- Chollas Heights Reservoir dates back to 1902 when completed as a storage and transfer facility of the Southern California Mountain Water Company system bringing Lake Morena and Otay Lakes water to the City distribution reservoir in University Heights.
- In 1914 the U.S. Navy chose the barren Chollas Heights as site for one of its three radio stations that would complete a system providing their first worldwide wireless communications.
- Chollas Heights Radio Station and its three massive towers opened in 1916 and would stand for over the region for nearly 80 years before removal of the iconic towers and the base’s permanent conversion to navy housing in the 1990s.
- Chollas Lake Park was created in 1966 and designated a youth fishing lake (ages 15 and under only) in 1971.
